In celebration of the UMLAUF’s 25th anniversary in 2016, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport arranged for a special exhibition of some never seen before works of American Sculptor Charles Umlauf from February 10-May 12, 2016. The exhibition, titled From the Vault: A 25th Anniversary Celebration of the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum, showcased fourteen sculptures, some of which have never been available for the public to view, including Dora, a woman’s head in painted terra cotta which dates to 1948, and a bust of renowned actress Farrah Fawcett, a former student and avid collector of his artwork. The exhibition presents Umlauf not only as an important sculptor but also as an influential figure in Austin’s ever-growing art’s scene.
