The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum uses its collection of more than 200 sculptures, paintings, and drawings by 20th century American sculptor Charles Umlauf as a teaching tool to encourage the understanding and appreciation of sculpture. We offer many opportunities for all to enjoy the plentiful riches in the Garden.
Join us on the third Saturday of every month at 1pm for a docent-led tour through the Garden. Our highly trained docents will lead small groups through the UMLAUF creating a unique and memorable experience rich in history. The tours are free with admission and registration is not required. Come see the garden from a whole new perspective!
The UMLAUF provides guided tours to public, private, and independent schools, serving 4,000 AISD students annually. Docent-led tours are available Tuesday through Friday, 10am-4pm. Tours are approximately one hour in length and are recommended for students first grade and above. In addition to touring our permanent collection, students receive admission to our special exhibitions and are invited to participate in a sculpture scavenger hunt around the Garden.
The UMLAUF provides free tours and admission to all Austin public school groups, as well as transportation assistance through bus reimbursements to Austin Independent School District. School groups located outside AISD may call or e-mail for information regarding admission fee waivers. Please schedule your tour at least three weeks in advance.
Thanks to a conservation process which involves regular waxing and washing, the UMLAUF houses the largest collection of touchable bronze sculptures in Texas. Our Touch Tours offer a unique opportunity for the visually impaired and other kinesthetic learners to formally engage with the subject matter and materials employed by Charles Umlauf.
The UMLAUF orientation video is available with captions for the hearing impaired.
The UMLAUF provides sculpture guides and docent-led tours for Spanish-speaking visitors.
