Q. Can I sign my kids up together if one of them is outside of the grade range?

Yes, as long as your child that is outside of the grade range is older than the stated range (i.e. you can sign your 3rd grader up for a K – 2nd camp, you cannot sign your Kindergartener up for the 3rd – 5th camp). Some exceptions may be made, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with any specific requests.

A. If your camper is registered for a full day camp you must send a lunch with them. If your camper is signed up for a half day camp you are welcome to send snacks, but they should not need a lunch.
Q. Does the UMLAUF offer scholarships?
A. Yes! Please e-mail email@example.com to request the scholarship application form.

A. Yes, many campers attend several weeks of UMLAUF camp. Each camp is different and your camper won’t repeat art activities if they sign up for multiple weeks.
Q. Can I sign up for early drop-off or late pick-up after camp starts?
A. Yes, you can sign up for extended care at any point during the camp. The price is per week ($40 for early drop-off, $40 for late pick-up) and will not be pro-rated if you sign your camper up after Monday.

Week 1: June 8 - 12 Art for the Earth
AM: Earth History
Campers will learn about the history of environmental activism by artists and create their own projects in the same style.

Week 2: June 15 - 19 Get Outside!
AM: Art Outside
In this session campers will explore how to create art that can live outside. They’ll start with the obvious – the UMLAUF has a collection of sculptures that are always outside. What makes outdoor sculptures different? Campers will get to clean, wax, and conserve an UMLAUF sculpture!
PM: UMLAUF Guide
Campers will be sent outside to explore the flora and fauna of the UMLAUF garden. They’ll make “guidebooks” to the UMLAUF’s outdoor area including information on the plants, flowers, and wildlife they come across.

Week 3: June 22 - 26 Green and Growing
AM: Little Green Thumbs
Campers will get a chance to create and decorate planters filled with live plants and herbs. A perfect introduction to identifying and caring for plants.

Week 4: July 6 - 10 Brains & Beauty
AM: Art Applied
The line between a piece of art and functional everyday objects can be hard to decipher. As we think about sustainability we focus on art that can be used and not just displayed.
PM: For the Birds
In this session, campers will create art for the wild animals in their lives! Bird feeders, seed bombs, earthworm homes, and more. Campers will explore how to make these useful objects beautiful and think about the impact we can have on the environment right around us.

Week 5: July 13 - 17 Roots to Blossoms
AM: Flower Power
Campers will collect and press flowers, plant their own flowers, and learn about why we need these naturally occurring pieces of art in our ecosystem.
PM: Designing Decomp
How can we create art that returns to the earth? Campers will learn which materials, techniques, and practices should be used to create art that doesn’t create trash.

Week 6: July 20 - 24 Curating, Conserving, and Creating
Full Day Only
In this special 3rd – 5th grade camp students will learn all about working in an outdoor museum. Campers will be given an opportunity to dig into all sides of the Museum operation – from creating sculptures to curating a collection of pieces, and even helping to conserve and clean a bronze sculpture in the Garden! This is a camp for kids who want to dig in and think about what a future job in the arts might look like!
