POSITION TITLE: Manager on Duty (MOD)
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Event Staff
REPORTS TO: Venue + Events Manager
This position acts as a responsible representative of the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum and onsite liaison to clients, caterers and vendors during private events. The MOD ensures that the UMLAUF’s policies and procedures are upheld during private events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Open the facility and make sure it is an orderly state prior to vendor and client arrival.
Meet and greet the client at the beginning of each event.
Actively monitor events from setup through strike, ensuring that clients, vendors and guests are adhering to venue policies and procedures, and assist them with any troubleshooting or questions.
Ensure that events begin and conclude according to the event contract.
Complete an opening/closing checklist and report about the event at its conclusion.
Follow closing procedures at the end of each event, ensuring the facility is secured.
Provide clients and staff with quality customer service and solutions.
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Prefer some college.
Many UMLAUF events occur in the evenings and on weekends, making flexibility key.
This is a position for someone with great people skills and problem-solving abilities. Must also be enthusiastic, outgoing, patient and tactful while at the same time confident in supporting and enforcing the UMLAUF’s policies and guidelines. Experience in the hospitality industry a plus.
PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Involves working outside in seasonal weather conditions such as cold, heat, and rain. Work may vary in the physical effort required from light to moderately heavy.
