Originally done in a stoneware. Lotus is the Egyptian goddess of fertility. One Christmas, a San Antonio family commissioned Umlauf to produce five Lotus castings: one for the parents and one for each of their four children.

Visual Description: Lotus 1960 Bronze Small hippopotamus just over a foot high and two feet long. Her smooth round body is shaped like a sausage. She has a tufted tail, bulging heavy lidded eyes, a flaring snout, and a smiling mouth.
