Boy with Goat
The different patinas or colors of bronze are achieved by heating the finished sculpture and "painting" it with various mixes of acids. The chemical reactions of these acids with the copper, tin, and zinc or lead that constitute bronze result in differently colored bronzes: green, brown, black, etc. Resembles Umlauf's youngest son Tom although he did not pose for it.
