Students
Sculptor to Be! Summer Camp 2008
When? Morning sessions (9am-12:00pm):
2 sesssions
June 16-20 & June 23-27
Who? For kids ages 7 through 11;
maximum 16 kids per session
What? 5 mornings of fun: learn how to sketch, work in a wide variety of sculpture materials such as clay, wire, plaster, fiber and more. Work with real artists! Go on field trips, take a look behind the scenes at a museum, create your own sculpture and organize your own (group) exhibit (complete with an official opening to the public)!
How much? Only $145 per kid!
(10% discount for museum members) Scholarships are available.
Includes materials, fieldtrip(s), morning snack & drink. Space is limited so reservations are recommended before June 1.

Sculptor to Be! Hands-On Workshop: Introduction to Sculpture & Clay
When? The first Saturday of every month from 1:30 - 3:00 pm
Who? For kids ages 7 through 11; max. 15 kids per group
What? Learn about sculpture, shapes, forms, tools & materials; create your own sculpture and take it home. This program is also available for groups upon request.

Girl Scout Workshops
BROWNIE TRY-IT: Color & Shapes
Tour the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and learn the importance of shapes in making sculpture, make your own clay sculpture shape (#3) or color and shapes mobile (#2).
Study the work of Charles Umlauf and other sculptors (#3), learn about positive and negative space (#4) and use it to mold clay into your own sculpture (#2). Discover five examples of near by public sculpture in Austin (#6).
CADETTE: Museum Discovery Interest Patch &
Visual Arts Interest Patch
Museum Discovery: Get a "behind the scenes" tour (A.1). Discover how our museum meets the needs of the disabled (B.4). Learn about maintaining a sculpture garden (D.4).
Visual Arts Interest Patch: Take a walking tour of the sculpture garden (A.5). Discover the skills needed to be a sculptor, practice drawing (A.6). Create a sculpture that expresses something you feel deeply (A.3). Make a sculpture of a human figure using an armature (B.4).

Adults
Sculptor in Me! Hands-On Workshop: Introduction to Sculpture
When? These adult workshops are organized 4 times a year, on a Saturday afternoon from 1:30-3:30pm.
Who? Grown-Ups! All ages, with or without experience welcome.
The workshop is limited to 15 people. Family museum memberships receive one free adult sculpting workshop!
What? Each workshop is taught by a professional sculptor. Learn how to work in a variety of media by creating your own sculpture! Please call 445-5582 ext. 101 to reserve a space, or download our registration form (PDF file -22 kb) and fax in.

Special Needs
Sculpture & Me - We're both 3D!
Summer workshops for students who are deaf, visually, or mobility impaired. Two hour workshops include "touch tours" and a hands-on clay activity. Students take their own creations home.*Contact the museum's Education Coordinator for availability, times and fees.
