We offer the following teaching opportunities:

Sculptor to Be! Kid Sculpture Workshop Teacher
(for ages 7-11) Limited to 15 students
1st Saturday of the Month (March-December) 1:30-3:00pm
$50 per workshop

Basic Duties: Give a short tour of the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and instruct a class in simple sculpture construction (additive or reductive). Implement lesson plans and manage student behavior.
Minimum Qualifications: 21 years or older. College degree in progress or equivalent in Fine Arts, and experience working with young people.
Desired Experience: BA/BFA. Teaching certification. Prefer at least 6 months experience working with children. Extensive knowledge of art, sculpture and its construction. Experience with lesson plans, classroom behavior management.
Note: Candidates without teaching certification are subject to criminal background checks.

Sculptor to Be! Kid Sculpture CAMP Teacher
(ages 8-11) Limited to 15 students
1-2 sessions during our 2 week June camps (Mon- Fri 9:00-12:30pm)
$75 per 3.5 hour workshop

What makes our summer camp unique is that for each of the 5 days of camp, students have the opportunity to work with a different artist/teacher.

Basic Duties: Create and implement a 3.5 hour workshop in a unique sculptural medium for young students, ages 8-11. Projects need to give students an opportunity to learn about sculpture, practice a technique and have a sense of success on completion. Engage students and manage behavior. Must also be able to direct counselors and counselor-in-training interns that will be assisting.
Minimum Qualifications: 21 years or older. College degree in progress or equivalent in Fine Arts, and experience working with young people.

Sculptor to Be! Kid Sculpture CAMP Lead Counselor
(for ages 8-11) Limited to 15 students
1-2 sessions during our 2 week June camps (Mon- Fri 8:30-1:00pm)
$8-10/hr.

What makes our summer camp unique is that for each of the 5 days of camp, students have the opportunity to work with a different artist/teacher. The lead counselor and counselor-in-training are the consistent staff throughout the 5 days of camp..

Basic Duties: Assists our teachers in providing a unique sculpture experience. Organizes, distributes and sets up art supplies. Assists students with creating art. Helps supervise classroom and student behavior. Sets up and helps serve snack. Welcomes students to camp making sure they are signed in and out and are being picked up by the appropriate person.
Minimum Qualifications: 18 years or older. HS degree in progress or equivalent in Fine Arts, and experience working with young people.
Desired Experience: Interest and passion for art. Prefer at least 6 months experience working with children. Knowledge of art, sculpture and its construction. Experience with summer camps or workshops.
Must be willing to attend a 2 hour training workshop before camp.

Sculptor to Be! Kid Sculpture CAMP Counselor-In-Training
(serving students ages 8-11) Limited to 15 students
1-2 sessions during our 2 week June camps (Mon- Fri 8:30-1:00pm)
1 session during Winter Break & 1 session during Spring Break (Mon-Fri 8:30-1pm)
Volunteer position

What makes our summer camp unique is that for each of the 5 days of camp, students have the opportunity to work with a different artist/teacher. The lead counselor and counselor in training are the consistent staff throughout the 5 days of camp.

Basic Duties: Assists our teachers in providing a unique sculpture experience. Helps, organizes, distributes and sets up art supplies. Helps, assists students with creating art. Helps supervise classroom and student behavior. Helps sets up and helps serve snack. Helps welcomes students to camp making sure they are signed in and out and are being picked up by the appropriate person.
Minimum Qualifications: 13 years or older. HS degree in progress
Desired Experience: Interest and passion for art. Prefer someone with experience working with children. Knowledge of art, sculpture and its construction. Experience with summer camps or workshops.

Must be willing to attend a 2 hour training workshop before camp.

Sculpture OUTREACH & Clay Workshop Teachers
(for ages 5-18) 1-3 hours
Various times and dates throughout the year
Volunteer & paid positions available depending on funding

We have numerous outreach programs that we do for schools and community groups. These range from sculpture booths at disability fairs or information booths at school events to sculpture teaching residencies in public and private schools. Basic Duties: Implements lesson plans and curriculum for outreach programs. Organizes, distributes and sets up art supplies for sculpture experiences for students of various abilities and disabilities. Assists students with creating sculpture with a wide variety of materials including: clay, paper mache, found objects, etc.. Helps supervise and manage student behavior.
Minimum Qualifications: Dependant on project . Ability to work well with people.
Desired Experience: Interest and passion for art and sculpture. Knowledge of art, sculpture and its construction. Experience as a volunteer docent or museum desk worker at the Umlauf.

Sculptor in Me! Adult Sculpture Workshop Teacher
(for ages 16+) Limited to 15 students
Quarterly Saturdays/Sundays 1:30-3:30 (February, May, September, November)
$75 per workshop

Basic Duties: Create and implement an exciting sculpture workshop in 2.5 hours for adults of varying abilities. Projects need to give students an opportunity to learn about sculpture, practice a technique and have a sense of success on completion.
Minimum Qualifications: 21 years or older. College degree or equivalent in professional arts experience.
Desired Experience: BA/BFA. Professional artist working in a sculpture medium. Extensive knowledge of art, sculpture and its construction.
