The Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum's mission is to provide educational experiences and programs that encourage the appreciation and understanding of sculpture.

Over 120 sculptures by renowned sculptor Charles Umlauf are on display in both the garden and museum. This outstanding sculpture collection, with its unusually wide range of styles, materials and themes, is an excellent teaching tool that appears to a wide and diverse audience.

Tours

The Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum offers guided tours for groups of all sizes along with audio and touch tours for our visitors with special needs.

Teachers & Educators

As of Fall 2005 the Umlauf is pleased to offer FREE admission to all public school groups! Contact our Education Coordinator Melanie Sherwood at 512 445-5582 today to schedule your tour!

TOUCH BOXES

Touch boxes, slide shows & DVDs are available for pre/after visit lessons for elementary, middle and high schools. Touch boxes contain sculptors' tools, samples of marble, bronze, wax and photos of the "lost wax" method of casting bronze. Slide shows, introducing principles and language of sculpture and illustrating these with specific Umlauf sculptures, can be used to prepare students in class for their visit to the museum. Slide shows available for different grade levels, K - 12.

Outreach

The Umlauf Sculpture Garden organizes various outreach programs throughout the year, often in collaboration with other Austin area art organizations.

Speakers Bureau

The USG&M Speakers Bureau offers your civic, professional, philanthropic, or social organization a free, informational slide presentation as a means of introducing the museum to your group.
